Although Siri is down on the iPhone network, Vlingo is practically assistant-ing very well

I should admit when I first saw the the Siri virtual assistant function on the iPhone 4S I although it was pretty damned cool. But, except to impress your friends by asking stupid concerns and obtaining smart-ass answers from the virtual assistant lady, it seems much more of a novelty than a genuinely wonderful productivity app. Particularly when it appears to go down on a semi-frequent basis.
