Cell phone unlocking to be legalized in the United States

Back in October of last year, the Librarian of Congress decided to remove cell telephone unlocking from the exceptions to the DMCA list, successfully rendering it illegal. The choice came into impact on January 26 of this year, forcing customers to stay with a offered carrier even right after their original contract had expired.
